Design a fictional world for a Genre Medium (novel, Game, TTRPG, Etc.) with the following seed ideas: Core concept: One Sentence World Concept Time period/tech level: Era Or Technology Level Scale: Single City, Continent, Planet, Galaxy, Etc. Tone: Gritty And Realistic, Whimsical, Epic, Dark, Etc. Build the world across these pillars: 1. **Geography & Environment** — Key locations, climate, natural resources, how geography shapes culture 2. **History** — 3-5 defining events that shaped the current state of the world, including at least one recent upheaval 3. **Power Structures** — Who rules, how power is maintained, who is excluded from power and why 4. **Culture & Daily Life** — What ordinary people care about, traditions, social norms, what a typical day looks like 5. **Magic/Technology System** — If applicable, how it works, what it costs, who has access, and its limitations 6. **Tension & Conflict** — The central tensions simmering in this world right now (at least 2 — one political, one personal-scale) 7. **Sensory Details** — What does this world smell, sound, and feel like? Give 3-5 vivid sensory details that make it real. Ensure internal consistency — every element should connect to at least one other element. The world should feel lived-in, not designed.
Tips
- Start with one core 'what if' question and let everything else flow from it — the best worlds are built on a single compelling premise
- Build conflict into the world's foundations so stories emerge naturally from the setting itself
- Focus on how ordinary people experience the world, not just the powerful or the magical — daily life details make worlds feel real
- Ask follow-up questions to drill deeper into any pillar — request a detailed history timeline, a map description, or a specific culture's customs
- Test consistency by asking 'if X is true, what else must be true?' for each major world element
